Having visited Whitby countless times since childhood, I, like many Yorkshire natives, take immense pride in our county's characterful and historic seaside town. As a fan of Bram Stoker's Dracula, I'm always fascinated by Whitby's gothic side. In this painting, I aimed to convey that through the Abbey, cast in shadow against the setting sun, and the mist rolling in from the darkening seas.
